Structural Engineering & Materials Laboratory

Dr. Stewart is the director of the Georgia Tech School of Civil and Environmental Engineering Structural Engineering and Materials Laboratory (SEML). The Georgia Tech Structural Engineering and Materials Laboratory (SEML) accommodates the new Blast, Shock, and Impact Laboratory. The SEML originally opened in early 1999 and has a total area of just under 1,672 m^2 (18,000 ft^2) and is serviced by two 30 ton, overhead cranes. The laboratory houses modern structural and materials testing equipment including servo-controlled hydraulic actuators and material characterization machines.
